Speaking at the post-match press conference following their 105-61 defeat to Petro de Luanda on the final day of the BAL Kalahari Conference at SunBet Arena on Sunday, the Johannesburg-based side's mentor says he believes in the process.
Ngwenya highlighted what the club needs to do to return as a stronger side in the BAL.
"So obviously, I mean for us it's more about the preparation, how do we go about doing about this? We probably have to spend more money than all these other teams that are playing in the better leagues. We probably have to find a way to go play somehwere as a group and try to spend more money," said Ngwenya
"It is literally that, it's one of those situations where if the league you're playing in is not at the top level you're always going to struggle that's just the facts so that's not our doing. There is nothing we can do about that we just have to now spend more money trying to go prepare somewhere else whether it's a month or two away that's what we need to do.
We know now for a fact that some of these guys have experience and what we need to do is find a way where we can actually compete in our preparation before we get here in a better situation. We all know the challenges I am not a politician I am not into the politcs stuff. It has everything to do with everyone else in this room, outside and the powers that be. We can control what we can and there's stuff we cannot."
The seasoned coach also pointed to poor shooting as the main reason for his side's struggles throughout the conference. He noted that his team’s 21% success rate from three-point range and sub-50% free-throw shooting fell below the required standard especially compared to their opponents’ conversion.
