Jannik Sinner splits from coach Darren Cahill after five-year stint

Jannik Sinner has confirmed his split from long-time coach Darren Cahill, with former world No. 2 Magnus Norman reportedly in line to join the Italian's coaching staff.

The world No. 1 announced his decision in a video shared on social media on November 6, 2026. Norman, a 50-year-old Swede, is expected to work alongside Simone Vagnozzi, who joined Sinner's team in 2022, the same year Cahill began collaborating with the Italian.

Norman brings an impressive coaching resume, having helped compatriot Robin Soderling break into the world's top five and reach two French Open finals.

He also worked with Stan Wawrinka during a period in which the Swiss captured three Grand Slam titles. Norman himself reached No. 2 in the world during his playing career.

Cahill, meanwhile, has overseen four players' journeys to the top of the ATP rankings. Although he initially planned to leave Sinner's camp in 2025, he agreed to extend his tenure by another year. He confirmed at Wimbledon in 2026 that he would remain until the end of the season before considering his next move.

Cahill played an important role in Sinner's development into the leading figure in men's tennis, despite the Italian's three-month suspension in 2025 following two positive tests for trace amounts of clostebol in 2024. Sinner was subsequently cleared of wrongdoing.

Currently recovering from a persistent knee injury, Sinner has not competed since winning his fifth Grand Slam title at Wimbledon in July. He is expected to return at the Six Kings Slam exhibition in Saudi Arabia in December.
