Masai led from start to finish in hot conditions and crossed the finish line in 28:14 in the colours of GOTYME Running Club at Kings Way in the Free State.

The Kenyan who won the Two Oceans Half-Marathon in April told SABC Sport that he is planning to return to South Africa next year to defend his Two Oceans Half-Marathon title and compete in several Absa Run Your City races, including the Cape Town leg.
“I had no competition from start to finish. I enjoyed the race today, and I feel good,” he told the national broadcaster.
Despite his comfortable victory, Masai admitted that the course was challenging, particularly in the final two kilometres.
“I felt the hill a little bit, but the performance was good. I will run in Iran and Italy before going back to Kenya to prepare for the race in November.
“I am coming back for Two Oceans and Absa Cape Town next year. I feel at home in South Africa. It’s a beautiful country, and I stayed in Cape Town for one month. I also enjoy running for a local running club here. I just enjoy this country,” he added.
