Spar Proteas captain Bongiwe Msomi reckons that having the Commonwealth Games prior to the Netball World Cup serves as a perfect warm up for the tournament.
The national team are heading to Wales on Monday, 11 July where they will face the Walruses Regiment in a test before heading to Birmingham.
Msomi says the Commonwealth Games will help the Proteas stamp their authority before hosting the world in Cape Town.
I feel like we actually lucky that it happens a year before the World Cup and a year before the World Cup for us-is us hosting the World Cup so this is really one big event before a big event if I can put it like that.
"The results here are going to be massive, its gonna be a very important for us to put our foot down and say we not just talking about a project victory, we not talking about we want to go on the podium, its really close to each other so can this happen in Comm games (Commonwealth games) and if it can happen we can start getting excited in terms of we are really there-we almost there or we can actually can make it be a live dream come true not just a talk so this comms game are just as important as the World Cup next year said Msomi>
The Gauteng Golden Fireballs captain has expressed her excitement for the Commonwealths where the team is looking to better their finish from the last edition saying the even "is more of the Olympic games kind of" for netball which is not the Olympic sport.
She also stressed the importance of telling stories of athletes in order to inspire the next generation of Proteas.
