Coco Gauff completes comeback against Jessica Pegula to reach Wimbledon semis

Coco Gauff booked her spot in the semifinals at Wimbledon for the first time after battling back from a set down to beat Jessica Pegula 4-6 6-3 6-4 on Centre Court.

Pegula exploited some of the American's weaknesses in the opening set and drew first blood in the contest after 35 minutes.

Gauff showed why she won the 2023 French Open and 2025 US Open and roared back in front of a buoyant crowd at the All England Club.

It was Pegula's turn to hit errors, and Gauff's forehand was finally up to scratch; a final pass took her compatriot by surprise to earn her the decisive break and go up 2-1 in the decider.

The world number 7 then wrapped up the contest and will face either Naomi Osaka or Karolina Muchova in the last four.

"Considering I hadn't won a match on grass in two years before this tournament ... I'm definitely just really happy with how I played today," Gauff said.

"Jess is an incredible opponent and person, playing against her is never easy. I'm just happy to get through this one today."
