Bo Moseneke Pro-Am Invitational set to honour late broadcaster

The inaugural Bo Moseneke Pro-Am Invitational is set to take place across two days on November 29 and 30 at the Zimbali Country Club, in honour of the late sports broadcaster who passed away 20 years ago.

Son of retired former Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke, Botshelo lost a life-long battle with diabetes at the age of 26.

His brother Sedise Moseneke confirmed to SABC Sport that the event will feature celebrity guests and friends with all proceeds going towards supporting the Diabetes Foundation.

"The Bo Moseneke Pro-Am Invitational is how the family thought we would remember Bo, 20 years after his passing. It started out of an idea between myself and my sister where we thought how do we remember a legend in the best way possible and we thought that we would honour him by using sport and the love for people that Bo had in order to remember him,” Moseneke said.

“So, it is really our way of remembering how to give back to the community through a charity event while enjoying a good time with sports fans, his friends, family all at one event."

The event will also be in collaboration with the Sunshine Tour and the Sunshine Ladies Tour, which confirms a field of a good number of professional players.

He says the idea wasn’t a hard sell to the two tours.

"As you know Bo lived with diabetes from the age of eight, he loved his sport and when we engaged with the Sunshine Tour to create a Pro-Am, they were elated, they were very excited for us to be able to collaborate in order for us to bring this event to life.

“So, for us it's a collaboration that seeks to give back through a charity but at the same time, create a tournament which will be meaningful by inviting pros, ladies and men to be able to join us. So, it's a kind of collaboration that made sense to us and we look forward to hosting everybody at the tournament."
