This follows reports from the Daily Dispatch in the Eastern Cape yesterday that Tete had tested positive for a banned substance around the time of his fourth-round knockout of Jason Cunningham at the OVO Arena Wembley in London in July.
Further information on the positive doping test that has been returned by Tete is expected to come out today, after the performance-enhancing drug for which Tete failed his test was not initially identified.
Tengimfene is awaiting more information and says they are now looking at going for a “B” sample.
“Now as management we are for starters we are saying let’s go to sample B, I know people will say sample B will give the same results, it’s fine but we need to tick that boxes, so we don’t say 10 years down the line had we opened the sample - maybe [the outcomes would be different], we want to know what is in sample B.
"I want people to understand that part, we want to tick all the boxes so that we will not have regrets going forward.”
Should the B sample also return positive, Tete faces a possible four-year ban from the ring.
Tengimefene says after all is been done, including checking the samples they have been using, they will start working on the way forward.
“We have supplements we have been using, we will take them for test to check if it’s the supplement - if no then we will eliminate it, if yes we will say for mitigating issues we have been using the same supplements in all our preparations, nothing has changed, so what could be in this supplement? could it be contaminated this time around? - so those are the process that we will consider going forward.”
