Netball SA invites all coaches to apply for the Proteas vacant post

Netball South Africa (NSA) has opened the opportunity for interested coaches to apply for the vacant head coaching position with the Proteas.

Numerous applications have already been received from candidates aspiring to fill the position left by the departure of veteran Australian coach Norma in December.

NSA President Cecilia Molokwane emphasized that the application is ongoing, welcoming further submissions.

Molokwane informed SABC Sport that the national federation will commence the evaluation of all submitted applications at the end of the month, with the final announcement of the successful candidate expected in March.

“No individual is excluded or overlooked in this process. We will initiate the final shortlisting and conduct interviews by the end of the month, indicating that the application window remains open, and anyone is encouraged to take a chance. It’s essential to emphasize that no one is pre-selected for this position, and I want to underscore the point that is no favoured candidate for the job,” stated Molokwane in her interview with the national broadcaster.

In February, as per the first lady of South African netball, the federation will commence individual interviews as the initial step in the quest to identify a suitable successor for Plummer.

“As I mentioned, we won’t hasten the process to announce a coach hastily. Our primary goal is to select the most qualified local coach, prioritizing qualifications, experience, and achievements in the sport over popularity,” clarified Molokwane.

Towards the end of this month, Molokwane is scheduled to provide the media with insights on the upcoming tour to Jamaica and the Proteas’ schedule for 2024.
