Daniil Medvedev defeated Arthur Rinderknech 6-4 6-4 6-4 to advance to the US Open fourth round against either Frances Tiafoe or Valentin Vacherot.
The seventh seed produced another impressive performance at the American tournament, convincingly dispatching of world number 29 Rinderknech in New York despite a shaky start to the first set.
Medvedev dropped serve for the first time in this year's edition of the competition, allowing the Frenchman to lead 4-2 before dominating and claiming the first set with four straight game wins.
The Russian continued his dominance in the second set without facing a break point and converting his sole break point to gain a two-set lead.
He did not look back in the third set breaking the French star early on before closing out a 35th victory of the year.
Meanwhile, World number two Carlos Alcaraz also coasted to the next round afer a comfortable 6-3 6-4 6-1 straight set win over Chinese star Yibing Wu.
The defending champion made light work of the 113th-ranked Wu in the final set despite an impressive fight from Wu in the opening rounds of the encounter.
However, Spanish sensation Alcaraz showed his class and consistency despite not being at his best overturning Wu's 0-30 lead in the final game and missing an overhead on break point.
The result sees Alcaraz set up a clash against American Tommy Paul on Sunday.
