Jenny van Dyk motivated ahead of Africa Cup final

South Africa have enjoyed a strong campaign, winning four of their pool matches to finish top of Pool 1 with eight points, two ahead of Namibia.

They will face Pool 2 winners Uganda in the final at Kasarani on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking to SABC Sport, van Dyk says she is pleased the team has also been afforded some time to rest as they prepare for their title defence.

"We've got our work cut out for the Uganda game on Saturday. Luckily the players get to rest a little bit now, and we also get a little bit more time with them to train together and to solidify our combinations and plans for the final."

South Africa started their campaign on a high, cruising to a 90-22 victory over Tanzania in their opening match.

van Dyk says she is impressed by the team’s consistency, particularly their ability to maintain their winning streak while producing big scoring margins.

van Dyk also mentioned that giving every player an opportunity to take the court and test different combinations has been crucial, with the Africa Cup also forming part of their preparations for the upcoming World Cup.
