Sundowns march on with another big Champions League victory

Mamelodi Sundowns claimed a 3-1 victory over Coton Sport at Stade Omnisport Roumde Adija on Friday evening to make it two wins from two in the CAF Champions League.

After a cagey start to the tie, Mailula buried the ball into the bottom right-hand corner with ten minutes gone after a spell of sustained pressure from the Brazilians. Within just minutes the Brazilians doubled their lead with Mailula turning provider for Morena to tuck home from close-range.

Masandawana were all over their Cameroonian counterparts like a bad rash and in the 24th minute a venomous effort from Teboho Mokoena was tipped over the bar by Coton goalkeeper Gadin Allambatnan.

The Central Africans pulled a goal back on the half-hour mark when Djawal Kaiba's throughball was tucked home by Patient Wassou.

However, Coton's brief resurgence was silenced again when Mailula grabbed a double with Aubrey Modiba providing the assist.

The men from Pretoria weren't resting on their laurels and were showing appetite for a bigger lead when Neo Maema found a pocket of space and had a go but his effort rode over the bar.

Khuliso Mudau had a chance to put a gloss on the scoreline, but unfortunately hit the upright from Morena's cutback.

Williams made another fine save in the closing stages to keep the two-goal advantage and see Downs to a comfortable victory in the end.
