Morgan Mammila set for Swallows role

Morgan Mammila set for Swallows role

SABC Sport has established that former Chippa United coach Morgan Mammila is expected to take up an administrative role at Swallows FC.

Mammila was sacked by the Chilli Boys last month following a string of poor results despite a remarkable start in which he won his first four DStv Premiership matches after succeeding Daine Klate in September.

Chippa has since reappointed Kurt Lentjies.

But instead of returning to the dugout, having claimed he is retiring from coaching recently, Mammilla is set for a new position at Swallows and the public broadcaster’s sport desk has it on good authority that the former Baroka FC chief executive officer could be a technical advisor to interim coach Musa Nyatama until the end of the season.

He was spotted sitting alongside the Swallows hierarchy at the Dobsonville Stadium on Friday night when they lost 1-0 to Golden Arrows.

Dressed in a tailored black suit and swanky yellow shirt, Mammila appeared a keen observer and has lately been taking to his social media posting tweets in the company of the Dube Birds chairman David Mogashoa.

Swallows were forced to reinstate Nyatama in the coaching role for the second time this season after Ernst Middendorp abruptly quit the country to take up a job in his native Germany with third-tier outfit SV Mappen.

Middendorp was appointed in December on a three-year contract.

With seven matches remaining, the Dube Birds are in a fight to rescue their topflight status and need all the help they can get – and Mammila is believed to be an experienced head that will offer advice and know-how to the Soweto outfit.
