Jose Riveiro won’t tamper with the process over Orlando Pirates’ poor run

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro isn’t tempted to tamper with the process due to mounting pressure following just one win in seven league matches for the Buccaneers.

The Soweto giants are yet to register a victory in 2023 and if their form is examined more closely, they haven’t managed the full haul of DStv Premiership points since October last year.

Coincidentally, Golden Arrows were their opponents then and they face the same side again this Saturday, with Riveiro steadfast in his belief that Pirates are playing well.

"We don't behave depending on the result, we are in a bad run of results but not in terms of performance really. Obviously, we, especially us as the technical staff and I can tell you the players, are always looking for excellence in the things we do," Riveiro told the media.

"So, we will never be 100 percent satisfied and it's difficult to say that we are satisfied after two defeats in a row."

While Pirates fans might be up in arms that their team is falling behind the title chase, Riveiro argues there’s enough evidence to suggest results will soon turn in their favour.

"Sometimes you finish the game [and] the only thing you have is the result – winning or losing – there's nothing else to take, [but] I think we played a very good game, outstanding in some periods, and that's the way," he added.

"So, when we start again, we know that we have a clear way to play and to try and be better than the opponent, so we'll just continue. Obviously, we are not...how can I say, [going to] do drastic things in everything we feel will help us, we're going to do.

"Sometimes we need to modify certain details and that's our responsibility to work on that – those details that will get us closer to winning."
