Bafana Bafana firepower excites Burnley striker Lyle Foster

Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster is relishing the chance to spread the scoring load with his fellow in-form attackers Percy Tau, Bongokuhle Hlongwane and Cassius Mailula.

Ahead of facing Liberia in back-to-back Afcon qualifiers this week, the Burnley forward wants to see their club form benefit the national team too.

"We've got firepower upfront. I'm very excited for our national team but excitement means nothing if you don't get the results. I think that's the main thing. We've got the personnel, we've got the profile, the players but the main thing is the performance that's what we are all looking to bring. Hopefully, we can push each other to be better on the field," he said.

Foster scored his first Bafana goal in the 2-1 defeat to Morocco, which was the national team’s opening qualifier last year.

It’s that wonder strike that gave him confidence in Belgium before his move to the English Championship three months ago.

"That goal definitely kickstarted my season because it was in June if I'm not mistaken, then after that, we went to pre-season. I went into pre-season with a lot of confidence and wanting to impose myself. So, definitely, the goal for the national team helped me a lot. Hopefully, it's not the last, I want to score lots of goals for both club and country," he concluded.
