Cricket South Africa (CSA) has come under heavy criticism after tickets for the 2027 New Year's Test against England at Newlands sold out within minutes on Monday, with only a small percentage of seats made available to the general public.
The Western Cape Government has committed R15 million to support upgrades at both Newlands and Boland Park ahead of the 2027 World Cup that South Africa will be co-hosting with Zimbabwe and Namibia.
The International Cricket Council has deemed the Cape Town pitch, where the shortest-ever Test match was recently completed, as "unsatisfactory."
