West Indies take ODI series against Pakistan to deciding clash after win in Trinidad

West Indies beat Pakistan by five wickets after chasing down a target 181 in a match reduced to 35 overs to level the ODI series at 1-1 and set up a third and deciding clash.

After being sent in to bat at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy venue in Trinidad, Pakistan posted a total of 171-7 in 37 overs after rain and a wet outfield delayed the start of the contest.

Hasan Nawaz, batting at number seven, top-scored with 36 while Hussain Talat struck 31. Openers Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique both got in but did not kick on as the pair scored 23 and 26, respectively.

The Windies bowlers put in a disciplined effort in the bowling and fielding departments with seamer Jayden Seales returning figures of 3-23 from his seven overs.

The Caribbean outfit then hit a wobble in the run-chase as they slipped to 48-3 in the 13th over but skipper Shai Hope led the recovery with a fighting 32.

Sherfane Rutherford then smashed 45 off 33 balls before Roston Chase, 49 not out, and Justin Greaves, 26 not out, made sure the West Indies got over the line.
