Ryan Rickelton goes top of SA20 batting charts with Wanderers masterclass

Ryan Rickelton shot to the top of the batting leader board leading MI Cape Town to only their second win of this SA20 season with a blistering 113 off 60 balls at the Wanderers last night.

MICT’s total of 234 was also the highest so far in Season 4, securing them an impressive 36-run victory in front of a buoyant Bullring crowd.

This made it their second in a row after beating the same team at Newlands on Tuesday, and Rickelton was happy to keep the winning momentum going.

"Nice to obviously go back to back wins. I think we've lacked a lot of momentum in this tournament, if we can start finding it now that would be great but we've put ourselves under a bit of pressure to find ourselves in this spot,” Rickelton said.

“Also obviously to go out there and put a performance in, I still don't think we are complete just yet but we are showing signs of improvement and hopefully like I said we are in a bit of a roll now and get some more wins under our belt."

Rickelton admitted that the win at home was a pivotal moment in their season after going five games without victory.

They now head across the Jukskei to try and make it three in a row against Pretoria Capitals on Monday, and get the defence of their title back on track.

"Yeah really big and a rain affected game, it always gets difficult and when we came back after the break there was a sense of urgency which we probably lacked the whole season,” he added.

“We had that in moments again today but we definitely took the right steps I suppose. We've got two now, we need to try and make three or four in a row. We've got some tough opposition, Pretoria are a really good side and then obviously Sunrise is at the top so we still have a lot of work to do.

“If we can still brush up on a few areas and keep trying to get better, hopefully we can still win a few more."
