The Cape side won the title for the first time last season, beating two-time champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the final at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
Van der Dussen says they have a squad that is familiar with each other, and hopes they can pick up where they left off.
"We have grown so much as a team, but the environment has become so familiar for us, which is a massive advantage for us. It feels like we are just picking up where we left off last season and that filters into what happens in matches."
Van der Dussen says he will not be introducing any new things to his game at the ripe age of 36, and believes consistency will be key to his success in the new season of the tournament. He says if anything, he will try to do less but better.
"No new shots or new surprises, because it's just about simplifying things sometimes. Guys like AB and Heinrich Klaasen always used to say that sometimes having a bit less is better so that you can execute more consistently."
With the lack of the usual Test cricket in Cape Town at this time of the year, van der Dussen has no doubt that fans will come in their numbers to come watch them in their first match against Durban Super Giants.
He believes they will be able to sell out their home games.
