Proteas: Fixtures confirmed for Australia's white-ball inbound tour

Cricket South Africa have confirmed details of Australia's upcoming inbound tour to South Africa, which will see the Proteas play three One-Day Internationals and five Twenty20 Internationals.

The Proteas Men will get their 2023/24 season underway by hosting eight white-ball matches against Australia, who visit South African shores for the first time since 2020.

The tour will start with a three-match T20I series, all of which will be hosted at Durban's Kingsmead Stadium between 30 August and 3 September.

The five-match ODI series will then commence on 7 Septemer at Mangaung Oval, where the second clash will follow on 9 September at the same venue in Bloemfontein, before the teams head to Potchefstroom's JB Marks Oval on Tuesday, 12 September.

The series will then conclude in Gauteng, with SuperSport Park hosting the penultimate ODI on 15 September and Wanderers the finale on Sunday, 17 September.

These matches will form part of preparations for the ICC Cricket World Cup in India, for which South Africa's qualification has yet to be confirmed, pending Ireland's three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, which gets underway next Tuesday, May 9.

"It is the start of the international season for us and it is a particularly important campaign in many respects because of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup which is taking place in India later in the year," explained Cricket SA CEO Pholetsi Moseki.

"We haven't qualified just yet, but we hope to be there and challenging the best in the world when the tournament is played in October and November.

"Games and tours like these against a formidable Australia side can only do good for our Proteas Men. It is also an opportunity for coach Rob Walter and his team to keep building on the excellent work they have already done so far together.

"We look forward to watching them play and we hope that South Africans will come out in their numbers and get behind the team in what should be a highly competitive tour."
