The Proteas fell to a 30-run defeat against India in an unofficial clash in Navi Mumbai in what was their final warm-up game ahead of the T20 World Cup that kicks off on Saturday.

The home team won the toss and opted to bat first and reached a mammoth total of 240-5 in their 20 overs as the Proteas bowlers were put under pressure.

The innings was given a late boost when Hardik Pandya clubbed three sixes and two fours in a 10-ball 30.

Most of the Proteas bowlers took punishment with Anrich Nortje particularly expensive going for 57 runs in three overs while Kagiso Rabada went for 44 runs in the same amount of overs.

The Proteas batters then had an opportunity to spend some good time in the middle before their tournament gets underway against Canada in Ahmedabad on Monday.

Captain Aiden Markram struck 38 off 19 balls before retiring while Ryan Rickelton scored 44 from 21 deliveries batting at number three.

David Miller returned from a groin injury but only managed 13 while Jason Smith 35 struck from 23 balls.
