Ottneil Baartman ruled out of ODI series against Australia

Baartman was part of the Dolphins team for their four-day season-opening match against the Titans this weekend, but only bowled five overs before being injured. The Dolphins lost the game by an innings and 60 runs after being bowled out for 157 and 204 in their two innings, with the Titans getting 421 in their only dig at the crease.

He is set to undergo further testing on his hamstring to determine the full extent of the injury and has been withdrawn from the Proteas squad as a precaution.

Left-arm seamer Duan Jansen, twin brother of Proteas stalwart Marco, has been called up as his replacement after impressing for South Africa during the Namibia tri-series T20 tournament and ODI series.

Jansen was the leading wicket-taker in the tri-series and also took five wickets in the first two ODIs against Namibia before being rested for the third game on Sunday.

Baartman's injury is a big test for the Proteas' pace depth, after Kagiso Rabada was also ruled out of the series with a hamstring concern.

Cricket South Africa has not provided timelines for the return of either Baartman or Rabada, but it is believed both are still in contention for inclusion in the Test squad to take on Australia in October.
