Despite widespread speculation throughout IPL 2025, Dhoni has yet to confirm whether the latest season was his last.
The 43-year-old resumed captaincy duties for CSK midway through IPL 2025 after Ruturaj Gaikwad was sidelined by injury.
It marked yet another chapter in his storied relationship with the franchise he has led since the IPL's inception in 2008.
Under his leadership, CSK have lifted five IPL titles - a record-equalling feat - and Dhoni has repeatedly emphasised his loyalty to the team and the city of Chennai.
Speaking at a recent event, Dhoni acknowledged the swirling rumours regarding his retirement but refrained from offering a definitive answer.
"I have always said that there is a lot of time for me to decide, but if you are asking about coming back in a yellow jersey I will always be in a yellow jersey, whether I am playing or not, is a different matter," said Dhoni.
CSK endured a disappointing campaign in 2025, finishing at the bottom of the points table - a rare low in the team's otherwise successful history. However, neither Dhoni nor the franchise have made any official announcement about his future.
