South Africa faced the Irish back in December and beat them in both formats and while they also won their series against Pakistan recently, the blemish was not being able to whitewash their opponents in both the 50 and 20 overs.
Mashimbyi says the numbers in the stands are a testimony to how well they’ve done and gave them an 80% pass mark.
"I'll give it an 8. I think we've been good and we've played some really great cricket. All the people turning up to our games is a testament to how well we've been playing and people have been really supportive, and all the improvement makes me give a rating of 8.
"There's been different players putting their hands up with the bat and also with the ball."
He also believes that his team is capable of way more than what they’ve shown so far, and has charged himself with the task of unlocking that potential.
He’s hoping the upcoming tour of New Zealand and inbound series against India will do exactly that in the next couple of months.
"I think we are still scratching the potential of this team. There's a lot more still to come from this team, and its my job to find out the rest of what this team can do, and hopefully we find it in New Zealand."
Mashimbyi admitted that he is yet to formulate a plan for their upcoming tour, with it being his first with the Proteas Women in New Zealand, and will consult with his team as to how to go about things.
The first batch of players will depart this weekend with the series getting underway with the first T20 International on March 15.
