The Lions begin the defence of their title this Sunday when they host Boland at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, having won the last two editions, beating both the Dolphins and Titans in successive finals.
Speaking exclusively to SABC Sport, Leaf-Wright says they are aware of the pressure that comes with their position but believes they’ve got enough talent to handle it.
"We are very excited to witness the return of the CSA T20 Challenge, and as you know the Lions have won it twice in a row, so we are gunning for a hat-trick of titles.
"With that comes its own pressure, but as we always say here at Lions cricket, pressure is a privilege, and we don't lose, we either win or we learn."
He explained what exactly has been the key to their success at the Lions, and says they have their focus on not only players as cricketers but also as human beings.
He revealed that they have built a family environment at the franchise, which has produced positive results for them.
They’ve lost some of their biggest stars over the years, with some also not always available due to international duty.
He explained how they’ve made sure to stay at the top of the food chain.
"I think professional sport is always a tricky balance, as you endeavor to retain talent, develop talent, and recruit new quality talent. That's the role of the coaches and us as administrators to ensure that the balance in each squad is correct, both in the men's and women's game.
"For us, we believe that we have got the blend right with youth and experience."
The Lions will look to set the tone for the season in their match at home this weekend, and Leaf-Wright has called on the fans to come in their numbers to support the team.
