James Vince relishing Paarl Royals challenge in playoffs

Joburg Super Kings batter James Vince says they’re preparing for a whole new game when they face Paarl Royals in the SA20 Eliminator tomorrow.

The two sides met just two days ago when JSK emerged victorious by 44 runs, in a match they had to win to stay alive in the competition.

The Englishman says while the victory gives them confidence going into the match at Supersport Park, they know it’s a whole new ball game and that they need to be in full focus.

"It's nice coming into this game on the back of a win against the same opposition, but it's a new game and we'll be met with new conditions. What happened in Paarl a few days ago gives us a bit of confidence, and we will have to make some adjustments for this different challenge."

PR have got some power hitters in their ranks and Vince says they know exactly what they’ll be faced with.

He believes they should focus more on what their own strengths are rather than be worried about the opponents.

The 34-year-old was also confident that they too have individual players who are able to turn the match in their favour on their day.

He says all they need is for a few players to find their best form for the match and get the job done.

"There's a lot of confidence in the team that come tomorrow, one or two of us can hopefully put our hand up and produce a match winning performance. We know in T20 cricket, it only takes one or two guys to have a day out. As long as we are all thinking that way, we believe that we will get the job done."

This year’s competition comes to a close this Sunday in the Final at Newlands in Cape Town.

Vince gave a glowing review of the SA20, and hopes to return for another edition after making his debut this season.

"I'm not big on comparing tournaments. I think they all have pros and cons. I've absolutely loved my time here after watching the competition on TV over the last couple of years. Coming here, it's even up a level to what I expected."
