This brought their wins to three in three following matches against the Tuskers and North West, making them one of only two sides yet to taste defeat this season, alongside Boland.
Speaking exclusively to SABC Sport, Dolphins CEO Heinrich Strydom says although they had a few of their regulars not available going into the tournament, they made some key signings to help the youngsters.
"The boys certainly started off with a wonderful few matches in the T20 Challenge. In our first game, we had ten of our usual starting 11 away on national duty or injured, so for the youngsters to step in, and the likes of our new players, Anrich Nortjie and Leus du Plooy, bringing X-factor to the team, is very pleasing.
The Durban-based franchise has been unlucky to have not won the T20 title in recent years, having made it to the final on a few occasions but falling short.
The most recent of those was two seasons ago, when they lost to the Lions, and Strydom hopes they can maintain their good form and go all the way this time around.
He believes this could be one of the best seasons in the franchise’s history, not only in men’s cricket but the women as well.
The reigning Cricket SA Player of the Season in both categories are Keshav Maharaj and Nonkululeko Mlaba – both from the Dolphins set-up.
"From a holistic perspective, this season has so far been one of our best seasons from the men's team, to the women's team, to Kingsmead Stadium, and our pipeline.
Strydom was appointed CEO of the Dolphins back in 2017 and has embraced the rollercoaster ride it’s been, most notably the challenges that came with the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as marking a century of international cricket at Kingsmead Stadium.
