CSA announce Proteas contract list ahead of bumper 2026-2027 season

Simon Harmer has been allocated a hybrid contract as the Proteas look forward to a season where they will defend the World Test Championship and the ODI team builds towards the 2027 50-over World Cup on home soil.

This season will see the introduction of Players of National Interest (PONIs), a group of players identified as part of the national succession pipeline across all formats for international and South Africa A tours.

On the women's side, wicketkeeper batter Karabo Meso has been awarded her first national contract after featuring in all Proteas Women's tours in the last 12 months, including last year's Women's World Cup in India.

CSA director of national teams, Enoch Nkwe, said: "These groups of players have been recognised for their performances and contributions over the past 12 months, while also taking into account the upcoming international schedule.

"With a busy and significant season ahead for both the men and women, it remains important that we continue building depth and strengthening our pipeline with PONIs, while remaining competitive at the highest level.

"We believe these groups give us a strong base to do that."
