Anrich Nortje not included in Cricket South Africa's list of latest national contracts

Nandre Burger and Tony de Zorzi have earned their first Proteas national contracts while the most notable omission from the 18-man list is fast bowler Anrich Nortje.

Nortje has been sidelined with a stress fracture that kept him out of the ODI World Cup late last year and only made his return to the field recently in the domestic CSA T20 Challenge.

The paceman is expected to link up with the Delhi Capitals in the coming days following the birth of his first child, and may still come into consideration for the T20 World Cup later this year.

Dean Elgar (retired), Quinton de Kock, Sisanda Magala, Wayne Parnell and Keegan Petersen have all missed out after being on the list last year, which has been reduced from 20 players to 18 for the 2024-25 season.

Fast bowler Burger made his international debut across all three formats last year while top-order batter De Zorzi has now played Test and ODI cricket for the Proteas.

The contract list is headlined by Test and ODI captain Temba Bavuma and T20I skipper Aiden Markram while David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen have white-ball contracts.

The national contracts for the Proteas Women has increased from 15 to 16 with both Eliz-Mari Marx and Ayanda Hlubi earning maiden deals.
