The former SuperSport United midfielder had a great debut during Sekhukhune’s 2-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns last weekend, as he scored and earned the man of the match award.

Makhubedu, who stood in for suspended head coach Brandon Trutter, feels Webber’s work ethic on and off the ball will be key for the team this season.

"He's quality. Remember we signed him at the end of the [previous] season. He's quality, he's a very good player from a good setup, and he clicked well with the boys," said Makhubedu.

"It tells you, from our six weeks [of pre-season], the job that we did when a new player just came in and clicked well with the boys. I think it tells you that we have a bunch of good players.

"If a new player can just come in, do well in the first game, get a goal and the man of the match [award], it tells you a lot about our side, and I think with and without the ball he was marvelous.

"Webber is not that kind of player that will [get] stuck in there. I think we are even a good [fit] for him, and we anticipate a good season for him. He's a very good boy to work with."

Following their showing with 10 men against Sundowns, Makhubedu also boldly proclaims Babina Noko will stand up to any side in the PSL this season.

"We're a very good team. Pound for pound, we can match anyone, and we are fit. The boys work for each other, so even if we were nine [players] against 11, we were going to give a good account of ourselves," he added.

Sekhukhune come up against newly-promoted Cape Town Spurs in a league clash at Athlone Stadium on Wednesday evening before returning home for their MTN 8 quarter-final against Orlando Pirates over the weekend.
