The retired midfielder, who hung up his boots after the 2023/24 season, believes the young Bayer Leverkusen playmaker is ready to shine at the highest level.
Speaking at the Icon League indoor football event, Kroos, who shares a Leverkusen connection with Wirtz, praised the 21-year-old's ability to adapt to any elite club.
"If he thinks that's the best next step for him and his career, then that's good," Kroos said. "You can technically only judge decisions like this afterwards, of course."
Kroos, who made 48 appearances and contributed to 23 goals during his loan spell at Leverkusen from Bayern Munich in 2008-10, sees parallels in Wirtz's rise.
"He's a player who can prevail at any club in the world in my opinion," Kroos added. "It doesn't matter if it would've been Bayern or Liverpool, it's different from being at Leverkusen for sure, but he has all the tools to assert himself at any given top club."
Liverpool have tabled a reported offer of 100 million euros for Wirtz, but Leverkusen are holding firm at a valuation closer to 130 million euros, suggesting negotiations may extend into the summer window. Recent updates from X indicate Liverpool's determination to secure the deal, with posts claiming Wirtz has given the Reds a verbal commitment after talks with manager Arne Slot. One source noted, "Florian has chosen Liverpool after a recent meeting with Arne Slot," with the club preparing a 120-million-euro package.
However, Bayern Munich remain confident in their pursuit, while Real Madrid's interest has cooled despite earlier links under incoming manager Xabi Alonso.
Wirtz's dazzling performances, including four goals and two assists in 10 Bundesliga matches this season, have made him one of Europe's most coveted talents.
As the transfer saga unfolds, Kroos's endorsement underscores Wirtz's potential to become a global star. Whether he joins Liverpool, Bayern, or another elite club, the young German's next step promises to be a game-changer.
