City have just concluded a deal to rope in Gavin Hunt as their new head coach after parting company with Simo Dladla, who helped promote the club but has since joined crosstown rivals AmaZulu as Arthur Zwane’s assistant.
Meanwhile, Hunt has made swift plans and recommended City target three players who are free agents after their contracts with their previous employers expired at the end of June.
Keet has already confirmed he will be leaving Cape Town City, where he was teammates with Gordinho, but was mum about his potential next move.
Hunt is understood to want both the players, as well as his former SuperSport United and Bidvest Wits captain Hlatshwayo, in Durban as he looks to rebuild the squad to compete in the Betway Premiership.
City have also recruited Ernst Middendorp as their technical director, with Kaitano Tembo likely to be part of Hunt’s technical team alongside Rowen Fernandez, who has been hired as the goalkeeper coach.
It’s understood the deals for the three players are not finalised yet, but City plan to follow through on Hunt’s request to have the experienced trio.
Keet and Gordinho were in action just last as Cape Town City suffered relegation to to the Motsepe Foundation Championship after failing to win the play-offs.
Hlatshwayo, meanwhile, was instrumental in helping SuperSport United keep their status before it was sold and renamed Siwelele FC.
