Steve Kapeluschnik provides Khuliso Mudau update

Mamelodi Sundowns are not entertaining any offers for defender Khuliso Mudau, but negotiations over a new contract are ongoing, his agent Steve Kapeluschnik has confirmed to SABC Sport.

As coach Miguel Cardoso acknowledged in his MTN8 pre-match briefing, Mudau has yet to return to training this season, fuelling continued speculation about his future.

Kapeluschnik revealed that Mudau’s original contract expired at the end of June, but Sundowns exercised a one-year option.

The priority now is to agree on improved terms to restore stability for the player.

“The situation seems clear – Sundowns are not considering any transfers right now. Khuliso is an important player for the team, and the club wants to keep it that way. I’ve brought multiple offers and they’ve all been rejected. Even today I received two calls from Morocco enquiring about the player but it seems to me like Sundowns want to keep him,” Kapeluschnik said.

The agent emphasised that discussions are ongoing.

“Yes, the club triggered a one-year option on his previous deal, but the hope now is to work on an improved agreement so Khuliso can be settled again. Khuliso wants to return as soon as possible, but it needs to be done correctly,” Kapeluschnik explained.

Mudau, who was this week named in Hugo Broos’ preliminary Bafana Bafana squad for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers, remains a key figure in Sundowns’ plans despite the uncertainty.

He will miss the second-leg MTN8 semifinal against Orlando Pirates on Saturday, but the club’s strong stance suggests the next step is to get him back on the pitch—especially with the Africa Cup of Nations looming in December.

Mudau was part of Broos’ bronze-winning team at the last edition and is expected to play a vital role again.
