Shandre Campbell brace leads SuperSport to victory against Orlando Pirates

SuperSport United secured a significant 3-1 victory against Orlando Pirates at Peter Mokaba Stadium, consolidating their hold on the second spot in the DStv Premiership.

Under Coach Gavin Hunt, Matsatsantsa entered the clash with a four-point lead over third-placed Pirates, extending it to seven after the win.

SuperSport now boasts 32 points from 16 matches, while the Buccaneers trail with 25 points.

Fortune Makaringe gave Pirates an early lead in the fifth minute, but 18-year-old prospect Shandre Campbell equalised in the 36th minute, prompting questions about offside that went unanswered.

Despite defensive lapses, Campbell secured his brace, taking advantage of goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi's errors.

Bradley Grobler's header in the 56th minute further solidified SuperSport's position.

Pirates struggled to recover, with their defensive shortcomings allowing Campbell to exploit the gaps and score again.

Despite TV replays suggesting an offside position for Campbell's first goal, the officials overlooked it.

Pirates had chances, but Zakhele Lepasa couldn't convert from a narrow angle. Buthelezi's defensive lapse allowed Campbell to capitalise once more, sealing the victory for SuperSport.
