Sean Fusire vows improved Warriors showing in must-win Bafana clash

Zimbabwe defender Sean Fusire believes The Warriors will raise their level when they face Bafana Bafana in a decisive Africa Cup of Nations Group B clash in Morocco on Monday evening.

Both teams remain in contention to join Egypt in the round of 16, with a draw sufficient for South Africa, while Zimbabwe must claim all three points to advance.

Fusire acknowledged that improvements are required, highlighting key areas that need immediate attention ahead of the must-win encounter.

"Hopefully in this game we will see a lot more conversion of goal chances by us, because during the tournament so far, we haven't been able to convert as many goal scoring chances. Slight lapses in concentration have cost us goals, so we need to keep it tight against South Africa."

Bafana and Zimbabwe have developed a fierce rivalry and Fusire reckons it’s these types of fixtures that are unpredictable.

"I think there's obviously the rivalry between the two nations because of our geographical proximity, so some can count this match as a bit of a derby, and in my experience you can prepare as much as you like for a derby but once the game starts, it tends to be less tactical and organised. Its going to be a case of who is more disciplined and hungry on the day."

The fact that there’s a big pool of PSL players in the Zimbabwe squad also adds to the dynamics of the clash says Fusire.

The Sheffield Wednesday player revealed that they’ve not even come close to adopting a mindset that Zimbabwe are out of the running despite being bottom of the table.
