SAFA boss Danny Jordaan mum on Bafana Bafana AFCON bonuses

The South African Football Association (SAFA) President Dr. Danny Jordaan, remains tight-lipped on the topic of bonuses for Bafana Bafana’s commendable third-place finish in the Africa Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast.

Despite the warm reception the team received at OR Tambo International Airport on Wednesday, where throngs of supporters gathered to express their admiration, Jordaan sidestepped inquiries regarding the compensation for the team’s historic journey to the semifinal stage for the first time in 24 years.

Jordaan faced pressure from various quarters to disclose the figures, yet he steadfastly resisted being pulled into the matter.

He maintained that the amount the players would earn for securing third place in the competition was not anyone’s concern.

At Bafana’s arrival press conference on Wednesday, Jordaan remarked, “We don’t know that information yet; we have to wait for CAF’s decision,” He continued, “The tournament just concluded yesterday, and already you’re seeking answers. The players are aware of the terms they’ve agreed upon; if you seek specifics, direct your inquiries to them, not me. It’s a matter to be deliberated and settled with the players first, and it’s not your concern – it’s theirs. Nonetheless, their dedication will undoubtedly be acknowledged and rewarded,”

Jordaan chose not to elaborate further on the matter, preferring to focus on celebrating Bafana’s achievements rather them delving into discussions about the financial rewards for the players.

He encouraged fans and members of the media to join in celebrating the team’s success in making the country proud, rather than dwelling on financial matters.
