Rulani comments on exchange with Erasmus

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena says he felt let down by striker Kermit Erasmus, claiming that the Orlando Pirates star made some unsavory comments during a melee between the two dugouts on Saturday.

Downs thrashed the Buccaneers 4-0 in to win their first ever Carling Black Label Cup trophy at FNB Stadium and during the match both sets of benches reacted following a reckless tackle by defender Tapelo Xoki on midfielder Haashim Domingo.

Xoki was sent off.

Mokwena said Erasmus, who just two months ago was at Chloorkop before leaving to join Pirates on transfer deadline day, had behaved unprofessionally.

œI was a little bit disappointed with Kermit Erasmus to be honest with you, the coach told SABC Sport in his televised interview.

œFirstly, he was here and I consider him part of our history - yes, he now plays for the opposition. But when Kermit™s father passed away, I knew how important his father was to him and it happened, unfortunately, when we were in PE. I took time, myself personally, to drive to Kermit™s house. Not on my own behalf, but on behalf of the club, to offer commiserations and support. To [now] get that type of behavior was a little bit distasteful and disappointing. But, okay we move and we go on.

Mokwena would not say what words were uttered by Erasmus during the commotion in what was the second match for both sides in the one-day event.

Downs had beaten AmaZulu, while Pirates got the better of Chiefs on penalties to set up a final against the Brazilians later in the day.
