Rui Vitoria admits Egypt "lost concentration" in AFCON opener

Egypt coach Rui Vitoria was disappointed to come away from his side's Africa Cup of Nations opener against Mozambique with a 2-2 draw.

Mostafa Mohamed got the Pharaohs off to the perfect start at Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny with his goal on just two minutes.

But Egypt failed to build on their lead and Witi grabbed a 55th minute equaliser.

It looked to going all wrong for Vitoria's side as they conceded again just three minutes later, this time to Clesio Bauque, before Mohamed Salah rescued a point with his 97th minute penalty.

Vitoria's side are next up against a Ghana team that lost 2-1 to Cape Verde in their AFCON opener.

The head coach told beIN Sports: "We lost concentration for three minutes, but we are still in the race to qualify; nothing is lost.

"Each match has a different situation; the teams may not be at their best on a given day, but we have to prepare well for the match against Ghana."

Mohamed added that the conditions in Abidjan made it difficult for the players.

He said: "The weather in Africa is different; humidity is high and the concentration drops.

"The best thing is that we learn early, so we know our mistakes before the crucial rounds, like the quarter-finals or the round of 16."
