Royal AM held by Chippa United as Maritzburg win at Golden Arrows

Royal AM could not hold onto their lead against Chippa United in Saturday's DStv Premiership action, while Maritzburg came away 1-0 winners at Golden Arrows.

Royal AM 1-1 Chippa United

Royal AM and Chippa United played to a 1-1 draw in their DStv Premiership clash at the Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday.

Motebang Sera gave Royal AM the lead as early as the second minute when the forward stabbed home a cross from the left wing by Levy Mashiane.

It looked as though the hosts would hang on to their advantage until the end but Etiosa Ighodaro equalised late in the second half to salvage a draw for the visitors.

The result did little for either club to climb up the table with the Chilli Boys ninth in the standings and Royal AM a spot below.

Golden Arrows 0-1 Maritzburg United

A stoppage-time winner from Friday Samu sank Golden Arrows at Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday as Maritzburg United claimed a 1-0 win.

After a sloppy first half, the game's intensity ramped up towards the latter stages as Arrows in particular put the opposition under pressure. Velemseni Ndwandwe forced two stops out of United goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner in the last five minutes.

However, it was the Team of Choice who produced the decisive finish as Samu finally beat goalkeeper Sifiso Mlungwana.

AmaZulu 1-1 Marumo Gallants

AmaZulu moved up to seventh on the log after playing to a 1-1 draw with Marumo Gallants at the Princess Magogo Stadium.

Joseph Malongoane gave Gallants the lead after just 12 minutes thanks to an assist from Lebohang Mabotja to leave the home fans stunned.

But Amazulu found a response via Ivory Coast forward Sede Junior Dion in the 39th minute to ensure they grabbed a share of the spoils and moved ahead of Orlando Pirates on the table.
