Roy Keane: Man City players should 'stick those medals in the bin'

The former Manchester United captain believes City's achievements have been undermined after the Premier League found the club guilty of financial breaches dating back to 2009.

The Premier League confirmed on Tuesday that City had broken its financial regulations over a nine-year period between 2009 and 2018. The club was found to have created sham agreements with commercial partners, allegedly allowing more than 830 million pounds to be channelled into its football operations.

City continue to deny any wrongdoing and intend to appeal the verdict.

The club collected eight trophies during the period under investigation, including three Premier League titles. City have won the league eight times since Sheikh Mansour's takeover in 2009, with three of those championships coming during the period in question.

Keane believes the trophies won during the affected period have been rendered meaningless and has described the conduct as cheating.

No punishment has been announced, although stripping City of Premier League titles remains a possible sanction.

"If I was a player, I'd be 100% sticking those medals in the bin. Of course you would, it's cheating," Keane told ITV Sport.

"They won it on the pitch because cheating was going on."

And on the club he added: "They knew it would hurt a lot of people, but they've still done it."
