Report: Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto turns down Saudi Arabi move

Roberto's wife Coral Simanovich is an Israeli model working mostly in the United States and for that he could not guarantee her safety in a country backing Palestine in the Gaza conflict.

The club captain's contract expires at the end of the season and Barca are reluctant to offer him a new deal. The 32-year-old is now being tipped for a move to the USA's Major Soccer League (MLS).

Roberto regularly goes on holiday to New York so it would seem apt if he made that decision.
