Relegation candidates Gallants, Orbit College share spoils in goalless draw

Marumo Gallants played to a goalless draw against fellow relegation threatened side Orbit College in their Betway Premiership clash at the Dr Molemela Stadium on Sunday.

The home side began brightly conjuring up a few chances in the first ten minutes with Jaisen Clifford missing an early chance before Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo hit the left upright.

Bahlabane ba Ntwa defender was the next to go closest to scoring but his 26th minute header from close range went wide of the target as the home side continued to dominate proceedings.

Orbit forward Mbulelo Wagaba managed to test goalkeeper Kagiso Mlambo twice shortly before half-time but neither side to find the opener.

The second half replicated the first, with Gallants attacking in the opening minutes with Sekela Sithole forcing a save from goalkeeper Sekhoane Moerane following a Sibusiso Ncube cross.

However, the visitors were handed a golden chance in the 61st minute after Katekani Mhlongo making a foul in the penalty area, but Thabani Mahlangu saw his effort saved by Mlambo.

The half continued to be a scrappy affair with numerous fouls committed with Mswenko Boys fashioning the better chances towards the end of the match, but Lucky Malatsi and Wagaba failed to convert as the match ended in a stalemate.

The result sees both teams remain in the same positions with Gallants in 14th spot, above Orbit College [15th] on superior goal difference.
