Real Madrid Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao undergo successful ACL surgeries

Real Madrid duo Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao have successfully undergone surgeries to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament in their left knees.

Courtois left the training pitch in tears a week ago when an MRI scan confirmed the ACL tear. Militao, meanwhile, ruptured his ACL in Real Madrid's opening match of the La Liga season against Athletic Bilbao.

Militao's injury means that Madrid only have David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger and Nacho Fernandez as senior centre-back options.

However, instead of looking to make a signing before the transfer window closes, the club has opted to promote 20-year-old Marvel from Real Madrid Castilla, according to AS.

Meanwhile, Real have already moved swiftly to find a suitable replacement for Courtois in the form of Kepa Arrizabalaga on a season-long loan from Chelsea.
