Real Betis star Antony calls out disrespect during Manchester United stint

Real Betis and Brazil winger Antony has claimed that he suffered from 'a lack of respect' and 'rudeness' during his time with Manchester United.

The 25-year-old joined LaLiga side Real Betis on a permanent move from the Red Devils following a successful loan spell last season where he scored nine goals and provided five assists in 30 appearances.

In contrast, the Brazilian struggled to settle at United, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists in 96 matches for the Premier League side.

Antony spoke to ESPN Brazil, accepting responsibility for his dream move to the English side not working out but also lamenting the treatment towards him at the club.

"I'm not the kind of guy who gets involved in controversies, who names people, in fact, I won't mention anyone's name here," said Antony.

"But I think there was a bit of a lack of respect there, even a bit of rudeness too, with no one giving you a 'good morning', a 'good afternoon'. Not even that. But, anyway, that is in the past, I won't give much importance to these things.

"Now I am here, at Betis, I am living here, that's the most important thing for me."

The winger is set to feature for Manuel Pellegrini's team against Espanyol on Sunday ahead of the international break, with Antony excluded from Carlos Ancelotti's squad for upcoming friendlies.
