RB Leipzig starlet Sesko downplays Haaland comparisons

New RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko has downplayed comparisons between him and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.

A tall and strong striker - Sesko has been likened to Haaland for his physical style of play and imposing presence.

The pair were once clubmates with Sesko part of the youth setup at RB Salzburg and Haaland in the first team.

The Norwegian has an incredible record which is no doubt envied by his fellow professionals including Sesko. Haaland struck 17 times in 16 games at Salzburg, 62 times in 67 matches at Dortmund and now has 44 goals in 41 matches so far for City.

Sesko burst onto the scene at Salzburg scoring 21 goals in 55 appearances between the ages of 16 and 20. Leipzig snapped the Slovenia international up at the beginning of the season as a result and he is already impressing in the Bundesliga.

However, the 20-year-old is aware he still has a long way to go if he is to emulate Haaland.

"This is comparing to someone who is one of the best players in the world," said Sesko.

"So it's not easy to compare. I would not like to compare myself to anyone. I would just love to be myself and be the best myself in general.

"We have height and we are both fast but in general we have different styles of play. I really like to look at him (play) a lot."
