PSL wrap: SuperSport continue strong start with win over Stellenbosch

SuperSport United extended their impressive start by securing a 2-1 triumph against Stellenbosch at Danie Craven Stadium.

Matsatsantsa have now achieved their third win out of four league matches in this campaign.

Their grip on the second position was further solidified through a leveling penalty kick converted by Ghampani Lungu, followed by a well-timed, opportunistic goal by the in-form Grant Margeman.

Stellenbosch had initially taken the lead courtesy of Jayden Adams' strike but were unable to keep out a stubborn SuperSport attack.

Golden Arrows back to winning ways against Polokwane

Golden Arrows moved up to fourth on the PSL table with a 3-2 victory over Polokwane City.

Arrows were mauled by Mamelodi Sundowns in midweek, going down 4-0 in a tough result for the Durban outfit, but they showed impressive fight to come back from an early deficit and down Polokwane, who were coming off a big win against Cape Town Spurs.

Things looked far less rosy when Douglas Mapfumo handed Rise and Shine the lead after just 12 minutes, but Arrows responded superbly, firing home three goals in the space of 25 minutes to totally turn the tables on their opponents.

Nduduzo Sibiya, Lungelo Nguse and Themba Mantshiyane all converted for Abafana Bes'thende to put the home side in the driving seat, and though Polokwane grabbed one a goal back early in the second half via Lebohang Nkaki, Arrows were able to hold for the remainder of the match to secure all three points and move up to fourth place on the table provisionally.
