PSL wrap: 10-man SuperSport hit back to earn a point, Sekhukhune, Stellenbosch draw

SuperSport United fought back with 10 men to force a 1-1 draw with Polokwane City while Sekhukhune and Stellenbosch played to the same scoreline in the two DStv Premiership games played on Wednesday.

SuperSport United fought back with 10 men to force a 1-1 draw with Polokwane City in their PSL clash played at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

The home team were hamstrung on the hour mark when goalkeeper Ricardo Goss were given a straight red card for handling the ball outside the box.

The visitors did not initially take advantage of their numerical superiority but eventually broke the deadlock through Oswin Appollis in the 56th minute.

Matsatsantsa were always in the contest and the 10 men found an equaliser with 20 minutes remaining through substitute Etiosa Ighodaro.

The points leaves Gavin Hunt's in fifth place in the league standings while Polokwane remain 11th.

Sekhukhune score late to force stalemate with Stellies

Chibuike Ohizu scored a late equaliser as Sekhukhune United pegged Stellenbosch back as the teams played to a 1-1 draw at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Stellies had taken the lead into the halftime break when Anicet Oura found the back of the net just before the sides went in the dressing rooms.

Sekhukhune have showed good character throughout this campaign though and Ohizu came off the bench to make it 1-1 with four minutes of regulation time remaining.

The point sees the home team remain fourth on the table while Stellenbosch still sit second, 13 points behind champions-elect Mamelodi Sundowns.
