Premier League: Liverpool put in rousing display to thrash West Ham at Anfield

Liverpool put in a rousing display to thrash West Ham 5-2 in their Premier League clash played at Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds were up and running early in front of their home supporters when Hugo Ekitike found the back of the net after just five minutes.

Home captain Virgil van Dijk then doubled his team's advantage in the 24th minute, the defender rising above his peers to head home from a corner.

Liverpool were in rampant mood and got a third before the halftime break when Argentine Alexis Mac Allister scored.

Tomas Soucek pulled a goal back for the hammers just five minutes fayer the interval but the Reds restored three-goal lead through Cody Gakpo.

Valentin Castellanos pulled another one back for West Ham to make the socre 4-2 heading into the 15 minutes.

An Axel Disasi own goal late on however made sure the Reds sealed a convincing victory at Anfield.

The victory will do wonders for Liverpool's hopes of ending the campaign in the Champions League qualification places.
