Porro salutes Yamal and Torres as Spain seal 2nd World Cup crown

He was speaking in the mixed zone after their hard-fought 1-0 win in extra time, beating the Lionel Messi-led Argentine team last night at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. 

Porro says Yamal is an incredible player who has shown his qualities all around, and winning the World Cup at such an early age speaks volumes about the Barcelona star...

"I think Lamine is an incredible player, he is a young boy so congratulations to him for the hard work. This is the best moment of our lives."

Another Barcelona star player played a big role in the La Roja securing its second World Cup title in 16 years, substitute Ferran Torres came from the bench to score a wonder goal in extra-time against 10-man Argentina. 

Porro says Torres has been unfairly treated in the past by fans, but his quality has never been in doubt...

"This guy's mentality is spectacular. There have been people who have been very unfair to him, and I think the mentality he has to keep working and keep growing brought him to that moment when he scored the goal that won us the World Cup."

It was a special moment for the young Spanish side, making more than 40 million people of Spain proud and happy with this second World Cup title. Porro says this is well deserved for their country and for them as the team, after having worked very hard in the past few years.

Argentina came to this game with a lot of aggression, and it was not a surprise when Enzo Fernández was also sent off in the second half, for a second bookable offence.
