The Bucaneers confirmed Ncikazi’s departure on Thursday following discussions between Ncikazi and club management, during which the coach expressed his desire to return to a head coaching role.
He departs after winning nine trophies as part of the Pirates technical team, having served predominately as assistant coach, with a brief spell as co-coach in 2025.
Chairman of Orlando Pirates Dr Irvin Khoza has thanked Ncikazi for his contribution to the club, while backing his decision to pursue the new opportunity.
Khoza says Ncikazi leaves with the club’s gratitude and blessing, wishing him success as he takes on his next challenge.
“Mandla leaves with our gratitude and our blessing. His contribution to Orlando Pirates has been evident throughout his time with us. We respect his wish to pursue this new opportunity and wish him success as he takes on a new responsibility,” said Dr Khoza.
Ncikazi has been strongly linked with a return to his former club, Golden Arrows, who have parted ways with head coach Pitso Dladla.
Further details regarding Ncikazi’s next destination are yet to be confirmed.
