Mohammed Kudus absence will be a big blow for West Ham, say David Moyes

West Ham manager David Moyes admits it will be a blow to lose Mohammed Kudus for the Africa Cup of Nations.

The 23-year-old Ghanaian frontman has been excellent for the Hammers since his switch from Ajax this season.

Kudus has scored 13 goals from 27 appearances in all competitions this term, along with two assists.

He could be missing for West Ham for up to a month as Ghana prepare to battle for a fifth AFCON title.

Moyes' side most recently defeated Arsenal 2-0 in the Premier League on Thursday.

Following the game, Moyes said, on Ghanasoccernet: "Unfortunately, we're probably going to lose Mo to the Africa Cup of Nations, so we're going to need other players to step up.

"This is where we need to see players coming in, stepping up and keeping us going in that direction, because we're going to need them badly."

Ghana will face Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique in the 34th edition of the tournament, scheduled to kick off on January 13 2024.
